Mike Maslin, Fly Casting Instructor and Professional Guide

I am a very proud Devonian, Devonshire born and bred. As we say down here "English by birth, Devonshire by the grace of God". I get a huge amount of pleasure from sharing my beautiful countryside and rivers with other anglers, whether they are from the UK or overseas.

I have been fishing for over forty years: my early angling was done on and around the coast of Torbay, catching bass, plaice, wrasse, Pollack and of course mackerel. After a little go at coarse fishing in the seventies and early eighties I discovered game angling and have not looked back. The bulk of my fishing is done at the renown and very beautiful Kennick Reservoir near Bovey Tracey, regular trips are also made to Frenworthy Reservoir and those elusive Brown Trout.

I hold the following qualifications:
  • L2CCA Game (Certificate in Coaching Angling)
  • GAIC (Game Angling Instructors Certificate)
  • L2 7302 City & Guilds Certificate in Delivering Learning
  • Certificate in Fisheries Management (IFM)
  • Licensed and registered with ADB (Sport England)
  • RYA Advanced Powerboat

Mike is a Member of:
  • S&TA (Salmon and Trout Association)
  • GAIA (Game Angling Instructors Association)
